The Brisbane Broncos have emerged victorious in the XXXX Derby at Townsville Stadium, defeating the Cowboys 30-14.

Despite missing Captain Adam Reynolds, young Jock Madden stepped up alongside Reece Walsh and Ezra Mam to lead the Broncos to a courageous win in the scorching heat.

The Broncos received outstanding performances from Herbie Farnworth, who accumulated 170 running metres, seven tackle breaks, and three line break assists.

Pat Carrigan recorded an impressive 154 metres, while Payne Haas and Kurt Capewell contributed 186 metres and 174 metres respectively.

Reece Walsh constantly posed a threat on the edge with his exceptional speed, accumulating 185 metres.

The game started with the home side launching a strong offensive, forcing the Broncos to defend their line.

However, Kotoni Staggs delivered a remarkable try-saving hit to prevent Kyle Feldt from scoring in the corner.

The Broncos then took the lead when Jock Madden executed a perfect long pass to Herbie Farnworth, who found Jesse Arthars in the left corner for a try.

Staggs successfully converted the try from the touchline, giving the Broncos a 6-0 lead in the sixth minute.

The Cowboys quickly responded with a try from Feldt in the 12th minute.

The Broncos managed to create two clean line breaks within five minutes, but were unable to convert them into points.
