Despite concerns over a potential suspension, Panthers star Jarome Luai has managed to avoid being sidelined for his high shot on Melbourne's Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

The NRL, instead of categorizing it as a shoulder charge, graded the collision as a careless high tackle and imposed a fine of $3,000 on the playmaker.

Observers noted that Luai seemed to lead with his shoulder and even jumped off the ground during the incident, leading to speculation that he would be suspended for at least two weeks.

However, the NRL had a different perspective on the matter, resulting in a fortunate outcome for Luai and the Panthers as they approach the finals.

Panthers coach Ivan Cleary expressed uncertainty about the incident, stating that he had only seen one angle and would wait for further information.

Despite the controversy, the Panthers emerged victorious with a 28-18 win over the Storm, adding to their successful season.
