Blockbusting centre Mele Hufanga has made history by scoring four tries in a single game for the Brisbane Broncos.
The Broncos secured a breakthrough 40-12 victory over the Cowboys at Townsville Stadium.
Hufanga, who was named the Kiwis' Player of the Tournament at last year's World Cup, was unstoppable as Brisbane's left edge attack dominated the game, scoring eight tries to the Cowboys' two.
This win has put the Broncos back in contention in the NRLW competition.
Hufanga's four-try feat equals a record that was set in the competition's inaugural season.
In addition to her try-scoring prowess, Hufanga also ran for an impressive 166 meters, made 15 tackle breaks, and had five line breaks.
She received great support from her centre partner Shenae Ciesiolka, who ran for 165 meters, had 17 runs, six tackle breaks, and provided a try assist.
Other standout performers for the Broncos included Mariah Denman, who made 143 meters, had 16 runs, and made 30 tackles, Romy Teitzel, who made 125 meters, had 12 runs, and made two offloads, and Bri Clark, who made 118 meters (69 of which were post-contact) and made 22 tackles.
The Broncos started the game strongly, with captain Ali Brigginshaw producing a precise grubber kick that led to backrower Tazmin Gray scoring the opening try under the posts.
The Broncos continued their early dominance when hooker Destiny Brill broke through the Cowboys' defense, allowing Hufanga to power over for her first try of the game.
