Rugby League officials are set to meet with Salford Red Devils in response to threats of a player protest ahead of their Super League match against Leeds Rhinos.

Reports indicate that several senior Salford players are considering withdrawing from the game due to ongoing financial uncertainties surrounding the club.

In light of this situation, RFL officials, led by chief executive Tony Sutton, have scheduled a summit meeting at the Salford Community Stadium involving players, the club, the RFL, and RL Cares to discuss a resolution that protects the competition's integrity.

An RFL spokesperson confirmed, "We can confirm that the RFL will be part of a meeting at the club tomorrow, with players, the club, the RFL and RL Cares present." Salford has faced significant challenges with salary cap regulations throughout the season, primarily due to a protracted takeover process and delays in wage payments.

While the club recently secured only their second win of the season against Castleford, concerns have grown regarding the failure to secure a bridging loan intended to stabilize their situation through the remainder of the season.

This has led some players to voice their frustration, declaring that "enough is enough."
