Despite it being the holiday season, NRL and AFL clubs aren't finding much joy as injury concerns start to take center stage.
In the NRL, the Gold Coast Titans received a blow when their star forward, David Fifita, suffered a partial tear in his pectoral muscle.
This setback raises doubts about his availability for the first round of the highly anticipated 2024 premiership.
A scan conducted on Tuesday revealed the grave extent of the damage, leaving Fifita and the Titans in a state of uncertainty.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Fifita has had to battle injury demons.
After the 2023 season, he had to undergo a knee clean-out, which led to his withdrawal from Tonga's tour of England.
It appears Fifita's road to recovery hasn't been smooth, as he had been limited to rehab work and a minimal amount of field training upon his return to the Titans.
With surgery scheduled for Wednesday, the Titans will be hoping for a speedy recovery and a strong comeback from their star player.
