Team-first approach has De Groot in best position to play

Jaylan De Groot is excited to embrace a team-first mentality under the direction of new coach Josh Hannay, after gaining valuable experience in the NRL last season.

In 2025, De Groot made 17 appearances for the Titans, playing various positions, including fullback and wing. Now, at 22 years old, he has returned to pre-season training eager to secure a consistent spot in Gold Coast's top squad. Several key injuries have created an opportunity for him to become a regular player.

De Groot is even open to adapting to a new role, should the new Titans coach wish to utilize him differently this season. He has expressed his willingness to play anywhere in the back five or come off the bench to establish himself as a stable presence in first-grade rugby.
