At 36 years old, the former Queensland captain has confirmed his exit from the Sea Eagles, leading to links with the Sydney Roosters and discussions of potential retirement. Recent reports suggest he may not be stepping away from the game just yet, but he provided little clarity on the matter during a press conference intended to celebrate his milestone.
"Thanks for coming. I'll just start off by saying hopefully we can stay away from the future stuff, I am not going to answer anything," Cherry-Evans stated, indicating his desire to focus on the present.
"I understand you might ask but I am just not going to answer anything. I want to try and keep the focus on this weekend and Manly and hopefully the celebrations this weekend."
He characterized himself as "very private" and mentioned that while he might share glimpses of his personality at times, he is choosing to keep discussions about his future to himself for now.
