International and State of Origin back-rower David Fifita is reportedly set to depart the Gold Coast Titans at the end of the 2025 NRL season, despite having another year left on his contract.
As one of the highest-paid players in the NRL, earning approximately $1 million annually, Fifita has shown moments of brilliance since his transfer to the Gold Coast. However, he has struggled to replicate the form he displayed during his time at the Brisbane Broncos.
Finding himself out of favor at the Titans-evidenced by being dropped to the QLD Cup-recent reports indicate that he is being offered to other clubs, even though he is still under contract until the conclusion of the 2026 NRL season.
With rumors suggesting his time at the Titans is nearing its end, 9News reports that Fifita is expected to leave the club at season's end, with the Rabbitohs emerging as the frontrunners for his signature.
"Nothing has been signed and there haven't been any negotiations yet, but South Sydney have contacted the Gold Coast Titans and expressed an interest that they'd like to negotiate with him to take him to the Rabbits next year," journalist Ben Dobbin reported on 9News Brisbane.
This development comes just over 12 months after he changed his mind on a four-year contract to join their rivals, the Sydney Roosters.
