Darcy Smith: Forwarding Roosters' Future with Passion

LeagueNews.co | Jason Patrick

Darcy Smith, a promising prospect for the Sydney Roosters, has reflected on his journey and aspirations in rugby league following a remarkable six months in the club's pathways system.

The Roosters have seen various emerging talents in recent seasons, notably including Robert Toia, who debuted for the Queensland Maroons after just ten matches.

As the club has experienced a turnover of seasoned forwards, new rookies like Blake Steep, Salesi Foketi, Siua Wong, and the Va'a brothers, De La Salle and Xavier, are starting to carve out their names.

Smith has gained recognition as he continues to make strides; he was recently honored as Player of the Match in the 2025 U18S clash between City and Country, where he captained the City side.

His performance has drawn comparisons to Boyd Cordner, positioning him as one of the top young forwards under 18, both at the Roosters and throughout rugby league itself.
