Daly Cherry-Evans: Staying Sea Eagle, No Whale of a Tale

LeagueNews.co | Cooper McEnroe

Daly Cherry-Evans, the captain of the Manly Sea Eagles and Queensland Maroons, has reportedly informed the Dolphins of his decision not to relocate to Queensland.

According to zerotackle.com, he is off-contract at the end of 2025, having announced earlier that he would not be re-signing with the Sea Eagles for 2026 and beyond, but he also stated he would take his time in signing his next deal.

While he has been linked with various clubs, including those in the English Super League, the Sydney Roosters are now emerging as strong contenders for his signature.

Initially, the Dolphins were seen as a likely suitor due to their favorable salary cap situation and Cherry-Evans' Redcliffe roots.

However, it has been reported that the Dolphins will not pursue him, as Cherry-Evans has expressed that he is exploring options within Sydney.

With most Sydney clubs having their halfback positions secured, Cherry-Evans' choices are limited.

Currently, the Roosters appear to be considering him as a potential partner for Sam Walker for the next two seasons.
