In a surprising twist, Olivia Kernick has been given the boot from the Jillaroos squad just days after snagging the prestigious Dally M medal.

Coach Brad Donald made the call, shaking up the squad ahead of the Pacific Championships and leaving fans scratching their heads.

Donald unveiled his squad on Monday, showcasing four fresh faces making their debut.

However, Kernick's name was notably absent from the lineup.

Instead, Donald opted for Kezie Apps, Yasmin Clydsdale, and Mahalia Murphy as his picks for the second row.

Speaking on his decision, Donald pointed to Apps' leadership as captain and Murphy's adaptability as key factors in the shake-up.

"Liv is a solid player, no doubt about it," Donald noted.

"But with Kezie at the helm and Mahalia's versatility, we had to make some tough choices."

Some may see Kernick as a casualty of the game, but Donald assures that she's not far off from cracking the squad again.

"She's proven herself on the field, and she'll be ready to step in if needed," he said.

With the Pacific Championships looming, all eyes will be on the Jillaroos as they aim to dominate the competition.
