The decision made by the Dally M judges has caused quite a stir in the NRL community, with many feeling that one of the league's top fullbacks was done dirty.
While Jahrome Hughes was rightfully celebrated for his outstanding season with the Melbourne Storm, it was a shame to see Tom Trbojevic miss out on being recognized as one of the top three fullbacks of the year.
The inclusion of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow in the shortlist raised a few eyebrows, as it was clear to many that he did not deserve to be among the top performers in that position.
In the end, Hughes claimed the prestigious Dally M medal with 62 votes, just edging out James Tedesco who had 61.
Daly Cherry-Evans and Trbojevic from Manly followed closely behind with 51 and 46 votes, respectively.
Scott Drinkwater of the Cowboys also outperformed Tabuai-Fidow, who failed to even crack the top 10 in overall votes.
It's a head-scratcher as to how Tabuai-Fidow made the top three fullbacks list, especially when players like Drinkwater had more impressive vote tallies.
The flaws in the voting system were glaringly obvious on the night of the awards ceremony, leaving many fans and pundits baffled by the choices made.
