In what can only be described as a real head-scratcher, Dally M medal winner Olivia Kernick has been left out in the cold when it comes to the upcoming Jillaroos squad.

The NRLW's shining star has finally broken her silence on the matter, expressing a mix of disappointment and determination.

"It's a bit rough, mate," Kernick said, "but I know what I've got to do to step up my game.

I'll be back stronger than ever, you can count on that."

The decision to omit Kernick from the squad for the Pacific Championships has sent shockwaves through the rugby league community, raising eyebrows and prompting the Australian Rugby League Commission to launch an investigation into the matter.

Some are calling it a real twist in the tale, a scandalous move that has left fans scratching their heads.

Coach Brad Donald justified his selection by pointing to the seasoned prowess of Kezie Apps, who was favored in the back-row position.

"Liv is a top contender, no doubt about it," Donald explained.

"But when you've got a player like Kezie Apps leading the charge, it's a tough call to make.

We also can't ignore the versatility of Mahalia."

It's a tough break for Kernick, who was on fire last season and played a pivotal role in the Sydney Roosters' grand final victory.

But as they say in the game of rugby league, it's all about bouncing back from setbacks and proving your worth on the field.

Here's hoping Kernick takes this setback in her stride and comes back even stronger in the future.
