In a surprising twist, Craig Bellamy has been handed a new role to assist Laurie Daley in leading the NSW State of Origin team.
The Melbourne Storm super-coach will be working alongside Daley to guide the Blues to victory.
Daley, a NSW legend, has been announced as the new Blues State of Origin coach by the NSW Rugby League board.
Some fans are split on the decision, feeling like history may be repeating itself.
Daley was previously unable to take on the role due to his connections with TAB, but he has now given up those ties to focus on leading NSW to a consecutive series win over Queensland in 2025.
His track record as coach, winning six out of 15 games between 2013 and 2017, including the crucial series win in 2014, has played a major role in his appointment.
Daley's ability to break Queensland's eight-year dominance in the Origin Shield has not gone unnoticed.
He joins the ranks of only a select few who have played, captained, and coached a Blues side to victory over Queensland, following in the footsteps of the legendary Wayne Pearce.
"I am thrilled and privileged to have the chance to lead the NSW Blues once again," Daley expressed his excitement about the new role.
With Bellamy by his side, the Blues will be looking to create history and secure another Origin series win.
