'Critta' swoops in as NSW Origin goal kicker

'Critta' makes his pitch for Origin kicker

In the latest update from the folks over at bulldogs.com.au, it seems that 'Critta' aka Stephen Crichton is throwing his hat into the ring to be the next big kicker for the NSW Blues in the upcoming State of Origin series.

With a bunch of top-notch goal-kickers already on the team, Crichton knows that coach Michael Maguire has a tough decision ahead of him.

The absence of Nathan Cleary, who is usually the go-to guy for kicks, has not stopped the Blues from firing on all cylinders when it comes to scoring points.

In fact, Crichton spilled the beans about a kicking showdown at training, where players had to battle it out to see who could hit the most goals between the uprights.

Even though Crichton hasn't had much practice kicking goals for his current team, the Bulldogs, he's no stranger to the kicking game.

During his time at Penrith, he managed to rack up an impressive 74 goals as a backup to Cleary.

And it seems like he's not the only one with a killer kick - Nicho Hynes, Matt Burton, Zac Lomax, and Dylan Edwards are all sitting pretty in the top-10 goal-kickers in the NRL.

With all this talent on the team, it's going to be a tough call for Maguire to pick the right person for the job.

But one thing's for sure - the Blues are gearing up for an epic battle on the field, and whoever gets the nod as the kicker is sure to deliver some winning shots.
