Angus Crichton, a standout player for the Sydney Roosters, is making headlines as he expresses interest in potentially switching to rugby union. Valued as one of the top three players in nearly every position on the Roosters' squad, Crichton is recognized as one of the best second-rowers in the NRL.
Despite his status as one of the league's major stars, the possibility of leaving rugby league is on the table for him. In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, Crichton shared his thoughts on the allure of making the transition to rugby union, especially with the 2027 World Cup approaching. "I have not played the game for 10 years, so I'd be interested in seeing how I'd stack up," he stated.
Currently, Crichton has just one season left on his contract and is only six weeks away from becoming a free agent. He will be eligible to negotiate with other clubs starting November 1, although many in the league believe he is likely to continue his career with the Roosters if he decides to stay in the NRL.
His interest in rugby union isn't new; reports suggest that he has been on the sport's radar since last year, contemplating a move before experiencing a resurgence in his career in 2024.
