Almost a year has passed since the notorious car crash involving Brisbane Broncos star Ezra Mam, leaving his victims deeply affected.
Last year, Mam's collision with an Uber resulted in severe injuries, despite the presence of drugs in his system and the fact that he was unlicensed.
As Mam prepares to play a significant role in this Sunday's Grand Final against the Melbourne Storm, the family of those impacted by his 2024 driving incident continue to relive the traumatic memories associated with it.
Uber driver Marcel Van Den Camp and passenger Taylor Marshall, whose five-year-old daughter Luna was injured in the crash, expressed their disillusionment with the outcome of the situation. Following Mam's actions, he received an $850 fine, a disqualification of his license, but no criminal conviction.
Marshall conveyed her feelings to the Daily Telegraph, saying, "I'm in shock he's playing. I really thought the repercussions would be harsher."
Though Mam faced a nine-week suspension from the NRL and a fine of $120,000, his victims feel that he should not be participating in the Grand Final this weekend at all.
