Melbourne Storm player Cameron Munster's impressive performance in the opening round of the NRL against the Eels was credited to his leaner physique, which was influenced by doubts expressed by his wife Bianca.

Munster played a key role in the Storm's 56-18 victory, contributing three try assists and showcasing his improved agility on the field.

Coach Craig Bellamy suggested that Bianca's challenge for Munster to lose weight motivated him to make the change.

Bellamy acknowledged, "I'm not quite sure if this is right but I think Bianca might have said… like he said his plan was to lose weight and Bianca said 'you'll never do that' so he got his back up and he did." Despite not explicitly discussing weight loss with Munster, Bellamy observed the positive impact it had on his performance, stating, "I thought he was one of the best players today.

He's been fully invested in the pre-season, he's just a bit lighter." Munster had struggled with injuries in the previous season but appeared more agile and involved in the game after shedding six kilograms.

Bellamy emphasized that Munster's weight loss did not compromise his strength or speed, enhancing his overall performance on the field.

The coach expressed satisfaction with Munster's commitment to the offseason training and highlighted that the weight loss had enabled him to play his best football.

Bellamy concluded, "Losing a couple of kilos has really helped him do that." The support and encouragement from Munster's wife played a pivotal role in his transformation, leading to improved on-field performance and contributing to the Storm's dominant victory in the NRL opening round.
