The North Queensland Cowboys have enhanced their coaching staff with multiple new appointments in preparation for the 2026 NRL season.
Following a disappointing season, the Cowboys parted ways with various coaching personnel during the offseason to revitalize their approach and return to being contenders for the premiership.
Blake Green, who was previously linked to the Newcastle Knights' head coaching position before Justin Holbrook's announcement, has chosen to join the Cowboys as an assistant coach under Todd Payten.
"Blake is a huge addition to the coaching staff," Cowboys GM of Football Michael Luck said.
"He is one of the most sought after young coaches in the game and he comes to the club with tremendous experience both as a player and now as a coach, having developed his craft over the last four years.
"From speaking to a number of players Blake has coached and staff he has worked alongside, his connection to the playing group and appetite for helping individuals improve will be a terrific addition to the program."
Also joining the Cowboys' coaching team is former St Helens head coach Paul Wellens, who will serve as an assistant coach alongside Green.
