Cowboys Secure Jaxon Purdue on Major Deal

The North Queensland Cowboys have successfully secured backline talent Jaxon Purdue with a groundbreaking four-year, $3 million contract extension, ensuring his presence until 2030.

As reported by The Courier Mail, Purdue has emerged as one of the most sought-after players this off-season, attracting attention from the Melbourne Storm, Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs, and the new Perth Bears.

The Cowboys intensified negotiations last month, and the efforts have proven fruitful.

Although there were initial disagreements regarding finances, discussions progressed, leading Purdue and his team to agree to a contract without ever needing to explore other options.

The contract, estimated to be worth a minimum of $750,000 annually over four years, is nearing finalization.

This announcement comes at a pivotal moment, as the Cowboys prepare to compete against the Broncos in a derby at Suncorp Stadium this Friday night.

Since making his debut in 2024, Purdue has amassed 20 tries in 37 matches. His incredible speed and versatility, allowing him to excel as a fullback, centre, and five-eighth, highlight his potential as a future superstar.

Teaming up with Queensland Origin halfback Tom Dearden, Purdue is integral to the Cowboys' goals of re-establishing themselves as contenders for the premiership.
