Jeremiah Nanai has worked hard to improve his performance after receiving a wake-up call from Cowboys coach Todd Payten following a poor showing in Round 1.

The second rower has made a strong comeback, being recalled for his ninth game with the Maroons next week.

After a week with the Northern Pride in the Hostplus Cup, he returned to the NRL in Round 3, initially coming off the bench before reclaiming his starting position in Round 8.

During that match, he scored two tries, contributing to the Cowboys' victory over the Titans.

His efforts caught the attention of Queensland coach Billy Slater, who has decided to start him against a formidable Blues forward pack that includes Angus Crichton and Liam Martin.
