The North Queensland Cowboys are entering a significant transition phase, anticipating the departure of 11 players following the 2026 season.
This includes five athletes from the NRL squad, specifically Jaxson Paulo, Mason Barber, John Bateman, Sam McIntyre, and Scott Drinkwater.
As per foxsports.com.au, Paulo, who has played for several NRL clubs without securing a consistent role, is expected to join an English Super League team next year.
Drinkwater will transfer to the St George Illawarra Dragons, where he will play under Dean Young.
In May, Harrison Edwards made a mid-season switch to the Parramatta Eels after just one match with the Cowboys.
Additionally, representatives Murray Taulagi and Villiami Vailea will shift to rugby union opportunities.
John Bateman is headed back to Bradford, having signed with the Bulls, the club where he began his professional career at 17.
Wiremu Greig and Zac Herdegen will leave as well, though they have yet to finalize contracts for the upcoming 2027 season.

Barber is set to join Mal Meninga at the Perth Bears for their inaugural NRL season and is likely to secure the fullback position.
