The North Queensland Cowboys have secured hooker Reed Mahoney on a contract that runs through at least the end of the 2028 NRL season, according to cowboys.com.au.

Mahoney is recognized as one of the top dummy-halves in the league, boasting 164 appearances over eight seasons with the Eels and Bulldogs.

He played 101 games for the Eels before moving to the Bulldogs in 2023, where he has significantly contributed to Canterbury-Bankstown's push for a finals spot in 2024 and a top-two position after 17 rounds this season.

The 27-year-old is noted for his durability, having played 21 or more games in six of his seven seasons since becoming a regular in 2019, often participating in 80-minute games.

Additionally, Mahoney has been included in the Maroons' extended squads in recent years and has represented the Prime Minister's XIII.
