Courtroom Clash Over Lomax's Shift to Storm

Eels sign potential Lomax replacement ahead of 2026 NRL season

The Parramatta Eels have obtained emails from Zac Lomax's lawyer, but they currently lack access to nine emails exchanged with his agent.

These documents are part of the Eels' efforts to prevent the former winger and NSW State of Origin star from transferring to the Melbourne Storm.

Last season, the 26-year-old was released from a four-year contract to explore opportunities with the rugby union's R360, though that effort ultimately failed.

As an urgent two-day hearing in the NSW Supreme Court approaches ahead of the 2026 season, Lomax's barrister informed the court that documents from his solicitor, Ramy Qutami, regarding the player's departure are now being shared with the Eels.

However, there is a legal privilege claim on nine emails between Qutami and Lomax's agent, Clinton Schifcofske, which restricts their release unless the court issues a different order.

The Melbourne Storm has received an extension to submit documentation related to their interest in Lomax. Originally set to submit by today, they now have until Monday.

Given the urgency for the February 12 and 13 hearing, Lomax's team is already "deep in the preparations" for witness testimonies, as stated by Adam Casselden SC.

A further directions hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
