NRL's judiciary will convene on Tuesday as St George Illawarra Dragons' Ryan Couchman prepares to defend himself following a hip drop tackle that raised eyebrows.
Couchman received a sin bin sanction during the initial half of the Dragons' recent defeat against the Parramatta Eels.
This incident involved Couchman landing awkwardly on the legs of Eels player J'maine Hopgood, which led to Hopgood being taken off and missing the remainder of the match.
Post-match updates confirmed a significant blow for Parramatta, as Hopgood has been diagnosed with an ACL injury, effectively ending his season.
As for Couchman, the NRL judiciary will determine his fate during the Tuesday evening session at Moore Park.
The Dragons' forward has the option to admit guilt, potentially receiving a one-match penalty reduction, or to contest the charges to avoid any suspension.
In contrast, no penalties were issued during the Dragons' clash with the Eels; however, in a subsequent match, both Cowboys fullback Tom Chester and Titans hooker Sam Verrills received charges.
For Chester, a Grade 2 careless high tackle on Jayden Campbell could lead to a week off with a guilty plea, or two if he contests and loses.
Verrills is looking at a possible $1,000 fine or $1,500 following the judiciary for a Grade 1 careless high tackle on Chester.
All involved players must finalize their pleas by noon AEDT on Tuesday.
