In a shocking turn of events, hard-hitting QLD Maroons and Canberra Raiders forward Corey Horsburgh has put in a cheeky request to be released from his contract.
This move comes as a surprise, especially since Horsburgh only inked a new three-year deal with the club and donned the Maroon jersey for the first time in 2023.
Unfortunately, Horsburgh has faced a bumpy road in the 2024 season, struggling to secure his spot in the starting line-up due to injuries and a spot of argy-bargy resulting in a hefty suspension after a scrap in an NSW Cup match.
With only two NRL appearances under his belt this season, in Rounds 4 and 5, the rugged forward has decided to ask for a release once the season draws to a close.
While Horsburgh is locked in with the Raiders until 2027, whispers suggest that the Raiders brass are mulling over his plea but have yet to make a final call.
Will they let him loose to chase greener pastures, or will they hold onto his gritty presence for the seasons ahead? Only time will tell in this chapter of Corey Horsburgh's footy journey.
