'Clubs gotta be on the lookout for him': Damien Cook throws his support behind Ben Hornby to take the reins as head coach in the near future.

He's confident that the Rabbitohs will bounce back stronger next year

Despite finishing just one win ahead of the lowly Tigers, the Rabbitohs are optimistic about their prospects in 2025 under the guidance of Wayne Bennett.

After a tumultuous year both on and off the field that saw them slump to second last place after a dismal losing streak, South Sydney's interim coach Ben Hornby is determined to lead his team to redemption in the upcoming season.

The mighty fall from grace for a team that once held the top spot on the ladder last year but missed out on the finals, coupled with a shaky start to the 2024 campaign, ultimately led to the sacking of coach Jason Demetriou.

The squad was plagued by injuries to key players such as Campbell Graham, Jai Arrow, and Junior Tatola, while the ongoing drama surrounding Latrell Mitchell added further pressure and distractions.

As Wayne Bennett makes his return to the club next year, hopes are high for Mitchell's resurgence under his guidance.

However, the team will have to adapt to life without beloved club legends Damien Cook and Tom Burgess, who bid farewell in their recent loss to the Roosters.

"The ladder never lies after 27 rounds, so we can't make excuses," Hornby remarked after their defeat.

"We've shown flashes of brilliance when the squad was firing on all cylinders.

We just need to find that consistency to start winning games again."
