Contract Chaos Involving Three NRL Coaches

A clause in Josh Hannay's contract as the new head coach of the Gold Coast Titans has sparked widespread speculation about his future and that of two other coaches.

Despite signing a three-year contract, reports from AAP on Tuesday indicated that Hannay's deal includes a provision permitting the Titans to demote him to an assistant coach position if they successfully recruit Craig Bellamy for the 2027 season.

It is rumored that the Titans have opened discussions with the current head coach of the Melbourne Storm, who is noted to own a property on the Gold Coast.

However, Titans CEO Steve Mitchell remained tight-lipped about the specifics of the clause or any conversations with Bellamy when asked by reporters.

"We are very excited to have Josh Hannay joining us as the head coach from 2026," Mitchell stated to AAP.
