Collins races clock for Origin comeback

Sydney Roosters and QLD Maroons player Lindsay Collins is facing a race against time to be ready for Game 1 of the 2025 State of Origin series after sustaining a medial ligament injury that will keep him out of action for at least six weeks.

The Roosters confirmed his return timeline, stating he is not expected back until Round 12.

This setback not only affects the struggling Roosters, who are currently second-last on the NRL ladder, but it also poses a challenge for the Maroons as Collins will be unavailable for selection until he recovers.

Collins, a key player for the Maroons with 12 Origin appearances since 2020, had been progressing from the interchange bench to a starting role in the team.

His absence creates an opportunity for players like Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Tom Gilbert, Corey Horsburgh, or Kobe Hetherington to step up in his place.

Billy Slater will have to consider alternative options in Collins' absence when assembling the Queensland team for the upcoming series.
