Hull KR coach Willie Peters has indicated he would be open to talks about becoming the inaugural coach of the PNG Chiefs, the NRL's 19th franchise due to join in 2028.
Peters is under contract with English Super League side Hull KR until 2028.
Across four seasons at the club he has assembled an impressive CV, posting a 73 per cent win rate, winning the World Club Challenge and collecting three further trophies within a year.
Those achievements have made him one of the most successful coaches working outside the NRL.
Although settled in England, Peters confirmed the PNG project would interest him.
"The short answer is I would be interested in that conversation," Peters told the Daily Telegraph.
"It's a unique opportunity because it is a team where you can create culture and a DNA of that club for many, many years.
"But setting up the culture of PNG would excite me.
Connection and care are the two values that I hold really closely to any team that I coach, and it's what I value.
"Living away from home, you will basically need to be a family in PNG and create a family environment.
"That's something I believe I have done well here at Hull KR."
Any potential switch would hinge on timing and discussions with Hull KR and the PNG organisation before a final decision is made.
