Clubs Warn of Lomax's Melbourne Move Risks

Former NRL player Zac Lomax's future remains uncertain as he prepares to take legal action against the Parramatta Eels. This comes after the outside back's release from the club, which leaves him aiming for a deal with the Melbourne Storm.

Lomax was released at the conclusion of the 2025 season, hinting at a possible contract in R360-a Saudi Arabian-backed competition that offers lucrative seven-figure salaries. However, this opportunity has been postponed until 2028, leaving him without a contract for the upcoming year.

While he has been negotiating with Australian rugby union teams, reports indicate that the Melbourne Storm is interested in signing him as well. However, a clause in his release from the Parramatta Eels prevents him from joining a rival club until the end of what would have been a four-year contract in Western Sydney.

As Lomax prepares to challenge the Eels, reports from News Corp reveal that other clubs have raised concerns, particularly regarding his potential signing with the Storm for the 2026 season. During a meeting on Wednesday, multiple clubs presented inquiries to NRL CEO Andrew Abdo, voicing their apprehensions about this situation.
