An NRL club has pulled out of the race for Reagan Campbell-Gillard's signature, once thought to be the frontrunner in the game.
The Parramatta Eels forward, a NSW Blues representative, is now set to depart the club at the end of the season, despite being under contract until 2025.
Campbell-Gillard, known for his tough play on the field, is on a hefty $750,000 deal each season.
His departure will provide the Eels with some much-needed salary cap relief as they plan for the future.
Having spent five seasons at Parramatta after making the switch from the Penrith Panthers, the seasoned veteran has donned the NSW Blues and Australian Kangaroos jerseys during his time at the Eels.
However, this year has been a struggle for Campbell-Gillard and his teammates, with the team facing the possibility of claiming the wooden spoon after a recent loss to the Wests Tigers.
Despite the setback, Campbell-Gillard's departure opens up new opportunities for both him and the Eels as they navigate the challenges of the NRL season.
