In today's age of sensationalism, some headlines go completely overboard!
"Madge facing toughest test of career after brutal Broncos start" was the alarming claim from a Monday headline, following Michael Maguire's Broncos' round one loss to the Penrith Panthers, just weeks after their defeat in the World Club Challenge against Hull Kingston Rovers.
Frankly, that headline is the most absurd thing I've encountered in quite some time!
Shortly after, another online article continued this trend with a dire prediction.
(The Broncos season) "May fall apart": Madge's ugly 'reputation' driving Broncos' pressure-cooker after 'stinker'
Choosing between these two headlines is a daunting task; both are equally disrespectful and exaggerated. I'd love to hear your thoughts.
When Madge took the helm before the 2025 season, the Broncos had failed to reach the finals the previous year, and many were criticizing what they called a 'rock star culture' within the team.
"Fans fed up with Broncos' 'rock-star' mentality" was one provocative headline based on a fan poll conducted at the time.
"Why Madge must draw 'line in sand' over 'rock star' Broncos" was another headline that surfaced just as Maguire started his leadership role at Red Hill.
