Penrith Panthers head coach Ivan Cleary has indicated that Blaize Talagi may be his first-choice five-eighth for the 2025 NRL season.
Instead of playing early in the season, Talagi has recently joined the team, coinciding with improved performance for the Panthers.
Following a 90-minute draw against the North Queensland Cowboys, Cleary was asked directly if Talagi was his long-term option at five-eighth.
He responded affirmatively, stating that Talagi is "on the right trajectory."
Cleary elaborated on Talagi's impact: "He is certainly on the right trajectory.
When he gets the ball, both coaches hold their breath, but that's what you love about him.
He just comes to the game and gets better all the time.
He loves playing, is a good learner as well.
I'm really enjoying him being part of the team and looking forward to his future." This endorsement suggests that Talagi's development and contributions are vital as the season progresses.
