Daly Cherry-Evans, the halfback for the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, has been appointed captain of the Queensland Maroons for Game I of this year's State of Origin series.
This marks Cherry-Evans' eleventh appearance in the Origin series, where he has captained the team on 18 occasions, achieving three series victories in 2020, 2022, and 2023.
He will partner with Cameron Munster in the halves; Munster returns after missing last year's series due to injury.
Maroons coach Billy Slater has also included three newcomers in the squad for Origin I: Robert Toia from the Sydney Roosters, Beau Fermor of the Gold Coast Titans, and Trent Loiero from the Melbourne Storm, all set to make their Origin debuts.
The match will take place at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Wednesday, May 28.
