Cherry-Evans kicks on, 2026 in sight

Daly Cherry-Evans, the captain of the Manly Sea Eagles and Queensland Maroons, has confirmed that he will continue his NRL career into 2026.

Negotiations have begun with two clubs regarding his future.

Despite having uncertainties earlier in the year about his participation in the State of Origin and his NRL career, he is now in the Maroons camp ahead of Game 1 next Wednesday.

His recent loss of form has been noted, which some attribute to his announcement to leave the Sea Eagles at the end of 2025.

However, Cherry-Evans has clarified his intentions moving forward.

He stated, "The motivation is definitely there to play on next year (in the NRL).

When the time is right, I will sign on with a club and make an announcement, but that's highly unlikely to happen any time soon and certainly not during Origin."
