Daly Cherry-Evans, a legendary figure in Manly history, is making a major career transition by joining the Sydney Roosters.

This move is particularly noteworthy as it is the first instance of a player with over 350 games switching clubs.

His addition is anticipated to greatly enhance the Roosters' chances of winning the premiership, as he will likely team up with Sam Walker in the halves.

"Daly's experience and understanding of the game will be a strong addition to the group and we're excited to welcome him to the Roosters," stated coach Trent Robinson on Friday.

"I'm looking forward to working with him."

The 36-year-old veteran is expected to officially join the Roosters later this month.

Cherry-Evans, the last active NRL player born in the 1980s, stunned the rugby league community in March when he announced his decision to leave the Sea Eagles after the current season.

The Roosters have been viewed as the leading contenders for securing Cherry-Evans's signature.
