"Cherry-Evans Contract Unregistered: Roo's Future Uncertain"

Daly Cherry-Evans, the veteran player for the Manly Sea Eagles, may no longer be assured of playing for the Sydney Roosters next year, according to recent reports. He is set to leave the Northern Beaches of Sydney at the end of the 2025 season, with expectations that his next-and final-team would be the Roosters.

Initially anticipated to secure a two-year contract, changes in team dynamics, particularly due to the performances of players Sam Walker and Hugo Savala, have led to a shift in plans. About a month ago, it was suggested that Cherry-Evans' arrangement might transform into a one-year playing contract followed by a coaching position.

However, Phil Rothfield from News Corp has revealed on Fox Sports' NRL 360 that there is a possibility Cherry-Evans may not play at all for the Roosters and could directly step into a coaching role in 2026.

If a contract has been signed, the Roosters would still be obligated to pay Cherry-Evans, although this would not affect their salary cap. Rothfield clarified, "If he has signed anything, his contract has not been registered with the NRL."
