North Queensland Cowboys player Reuben Cotter has sent a cheeky message to his Kangaroos rivals ahead of Saturday night's game, pleading with Samoan players to spare his face from any damage.
Cotter, known for his tough playing style, expressed concern about his wedding photos being ruined if he were to sustain black eyes or cuts during the Pacific Championships opener in Townsville.
However, he jokingly mentioned the availability of photoshop to fix any potential issues.
Cotter's impending marriage to his long-time partner Mackenzie on Sunday has caused the couple to postpone their Fijian honeymoon, as Cotter is determined to play in the game against New Zealand and potentially in the Pacific Championships final.
Despite the sacrifice, Cotter stated that neither he nor his soon-to-be wife would ever suggest that he miss the opportunity to represent his country.
Reflecting on the significance of playing for the Kangaroos, Cotter described it as a special privilege to wear the green and gold jersey.
The upcoming match against Samoa holds particular importance for him, as he had made his Kangaroos debut at the previous year's World Cup but was not selected for the final against Samoa.
The rematch between the two teams will take place at Queensland Country Bank Stadium on Saturday.
