Channel 9 has stepped up to bat for NRL legend Brad Fittler after he copped a bouncer for his controversial remark during an interview with gold medal-winning sisters Jessica and Noamie Fox.
The duo, who hit it out of the park at the Paris Olympics, are big fans of the Penrith Panthers and were given the star treatment at BlueBet Stadium ahead of the Panthers' face-off with Souths.
However, things took an unexpected turn when Fittler, a former Panthers and Roosters player, made a questionable crack about the Kiss Cam coming his way.
Jessica Fox played a forward defense by turning her back on Fittler, while Noamie brushed it off with a good-natured guffaw.
Channel 9 has since brushed off the backlash, stating that Fittler's remark was not meant to bowl over the Fox sisters.
Fans watching at home were left stumped by Fittler's play, with some calling it a foul and others branding it as offside.
But Channel 9 has kicked back against the criticism, giving Fittler the benefit of the doubt and dismissing the spectators' negative reaction as a bit of a dummy pass.
