Chad Townsend Reveals His Nightmare 13 Toughest Opponents
In an exclusive interview with Zero Tackle, veteran halfback Chad Townsend shared his 'nightmare 13'-the toughest players he has faced in his impressive career, which spans over 15 years and includes more than 250 games.
When asked to compile his list, Townsend chose not to include any of his teammates from the Cronulla Sharks, where he spent the majority of his career, acknowledging that his team could compete fiercely against any other.
Townsend's selection features prominent players known for their excellence and tenacity. This includes standout spine players such as Billy Slater and Johnathan Thurston, alongside formidable forwards like Sam Burgess and Jason Taumalolo. These names form a compelling lineup that would be hard to dispute.
"I found it extremely tough to be honest. You asked me to put together a team of the best I've played with, and I thought I couldn't do that. I don't want to disrespect some of the players I've played with along the way," Townsend reflected on the selection process.
"The next question was how about the guys I've played against. I thought that sounds a little bit easier, but I did find it extremely challenging and some of the players we will go over today, I'm sure there will be people who are like how can you leave him out, but obviously I have my own reasons," he explained as he navigated the difficulties of making his choices.
