Kurt Capewell, a second rower for the NZ Warriors, has become a three-time State of Origin series winner following Queensland's impressive 24-12 victory over New South Wales in the series decider held in Sydney.

Initially not selected for the Origin I loss (6-18) in Brisbane, the 31-year-old was called up by coach Billy Slater for the second game, where he delivered a standout performance, scoring a try and earning recognition as a potential man of the match, although Cameron Munster officially received the accolade.

Capewell continued his strong performance in the decisive game, noted for his aggressive line speed and defensive strategy.

He contributed significantly with 90 metres from 12 runs and completed 33 tackles during the match.

Throughout his career, Capewell has participated in three victorious Queensland series out of the five campaigns he's engaged in: a 2-1 win in 2020 (playing all three matches), a 2-1 triumph in 2022, and now the current series, also ending 2-1.

His role in this year's series included playing the last two matches in the second row.

In total, Capewell has appeared in 13 Origin games, boasting a win-loss record of 7-6, and he has scored three tries while averaging 107 metres and 23 tackles per game.

Alongside Warriors captain Mitchell Barnett, Capewell was part of the winning side in all three matches they played together in this year's series.
