Canterbury was the club where Paul Langmack won three premierships, playing as a ball-playing forward and five-eighth.
His 314-game first-grade career also included stints with the Magpies and Roosters, plus two seasons at Halifax in Super League.
A New South Wales Blues representative, Langmack later coached South Sydney.
He took charge in 2003 and remained for the early part of the 2004 season, before Arthur Kitinas replaced him.
Langmack died from a heart attack at the age of 61.
Known as "Langers," he was regarded as one of rugby league's characters and earned the nickname "Yesterday's Hero" after appearing on The Footy Show.
