Canterbury Bulldogs lose two youngsters

Canterbury Bulldogs training base in Belmore ruined by wild Sydney storms

Canterbury still have three places available in their 2027 Top 30 squad as two young players prepare to leave.

Taye Cochrane is understood to be joining the Ipswich Jets, a feeder club for the Gold Coast Titans, after failing to secure a new Bulldogs deal.

The Queensland move offers him a fresh start after 25 NSW Cup appearances for Canterbury since his March 2025 debut, including 14 matches in 2026.

He scored six tries, made four try assists, 60 tackle breaks and five line breaks last season.

Primarily a fullback, Cochrane can also play in the halves.

Alvin Chong-Nee will also depart after one year in Canterbury's system, his management has revealed.

The Jersey Flegg centre is returning to the New Zealand Warriors for 2027, rejoining the club where he began his career.

He mostly played Jersey Flegg for the Bulldogs and made his NSW Cup debut in 2025.

The move gives Chong-Nee an opportunity to develop further and work towards returning to NSW Cup contention.
