Canterbury Bulldogs general manager Phil Gould said on X that the club had not discussed signing AJ Brimson for 2027.

The Titans fullback is seeking a release, which the club will grant if he finds another team.

Brimson wants to play in the number one position, but has recently been used at five-eighth and centre.

His long-term destination is expected to be the PNG Chiefs, though contract terms remain unresolved.

Reports say the Chiefs want Brimson to accept a pay cut before they sign the English representative, who has also played for Queensland in State of Origin.

The Titans must find him a club for 2027, and may need to contribute to his salary because few teams have room or money this late.

The Perth Bears were previously suggested as an option, but Mal Meninga said they could not afford Brimson under the salary cap.

The Bulldogs have re-signed Connor Tracey for two years, while young fullback Connor Votano is also on their books.

Stephen Crichton is another possible option at fullback, though he has mainly played centre for Canterbury and moved to five-eighth late in 2027.
