Canterbury Bulldogs' 2028 roster calls loom

Phil Gould confirms two more Canterbury Bulldogs player departures

Max King is expected to re-sign with Canterbury, but the futures of the club's other off-contract players remain uncertain.

The Bulldogs have named 18 players in their projected 2028 19, leaving one interchange place unsigned. The group includes Connor Tracey, Jacob Kiraz, Enari Tuala, Jesse McLean, Connor Votano, Stephen Crichton, Lachlan Galvin, Leo Thompson and Freddy Lussick.

Sitili Tupouniua, Viliame Kikau, Jacob Preston, Bailey Hayward, Jack Underhill, Harry Hayes, Finau Latu, Kaawyn Patterson and Jaxson Allen are also included.

Canterbury's promising run through mid-2025 ended with a straight-sets finals exit, followed by missing the finals altogether in 2026.

Phil Gould has recently defended the club and its coaching staff, but pressure is building as the Bulldogs approach 2027.

Cameron Ciraldo needs to turn results around, or his position could come under scrutiny.

The middle third remains an area needing improvement, while questions persist over the halfback role and fullback.
