In a disappointing match at Scully Park in Tamworth, Wests Tigers suffered a 32-18 loss despite a spirited second half fightback.

The game got off to a rocky start for the hosts as John Bateman's pass was intercepted by Alex Johnston, who dashed sixty meters to score the opening try.

Although South Sydney had another opportunity to score after an error from Jahream Bula, the Wests Tigers defense stood strong and prevented any further points.

Making a triumphant return from a hamstring injury, halfback Luke Brooks immediately made an impact by executing a well-placed grubber kick through a crowded field, which deflected and landed perfectly into the hands of Api Koroisau.

This try marked the third consecutive match in which the Wests Tigers skipper has crossed the line.

However, South Sydney quickly regained the lead when Taane Milne broke through the defense, setting up Isaiah Tass to score a try on the left side of the field.
