Can Latrell Mitchell save South Sydney in the halves?

Alex McKinnon's shock call for Latrell Mitchell halves switch amid South Sydney woes

In a surprising twist, Alex McKinnon has called for South Sydney to make a drastic move, shifting Latrell Mitchell to the halves in order to avoid another humiliating season like their flop in 2023.

The Rabbitohs made history by becoming the first team in the NRL era to miss out on the finals after leading the competition.

Mitchell's suspension during the final round added to the drama surrounding his performance as the superstar fullback struggled to find form after returning from a calf injury.

He faced the brunt of the criticism aimed at Souths for their dismal fade-out.

Some critics have suggested moving Mitchell to the centres due to his lackluster efforts at fullback, but McKinnon believes he would be better suited to five-eighth, being compared to NRL legend Greg Inglis.

McKinnon argues that Mitchell could provide a physical presence in the defensive line and be more effective with his efforts if given the opportunity to play in the halves alongside Cody Walker.

He also believes that Walker is a natural rugby league player who should take on the role of halfback to fully control the outcome of each game.
