Can Eels avoid wooden spoon while Sharks swim to victory?

NRLW Preview: Round 9 - Sharks v Eels

In this weekend's NRLW clash between the Sharks and the Eels, both teams have different motivations.

The Eels are determined to avoid picking up the wooden spoon for the first time in their history as an NRLW club.

After reaching the Grand Final last year, they have had a disappointing season with injuries and a new-look roster that hasn't quite clicked.

To avoid finishing last, the Eels not only need to beat the Sharks but also rely on the Cowboys losing and make up a significant difference in differential points.

On the other hand, the Sharks are looking to earn their fourth win in their maiden NRLW campaign.

Despite their finals hopes being dashed, they have shown promise in their debut season.

Last week, they secured a 16-8 victory over the Dragons, but it wasn't enough to keep their finals dreams alive.

When looking at their previous encounters, the Eels were narrowly defeated 28-22 in their only prior game at GIO Stadium earlier this year.

This may give the Sharks some confidence, but they have struggled in away games, losing three out of four matches played away from PointsBet Stadium in 2023.

Both teams will be eager to end their season on a high note.

The Eels will be fighting to avoid the wooden spoon, while the Sharks aim to finish their maiden campaign with a positive result.

It will be an exciting clash between these two NRLW clubs, with pride and motivation driving their performances on the field.
