The Rabbitohs' hopes for a successful NRL season have been dealt a major blow with the news that Campbell Graham will be sidelined for up to six months due to sternum surgery.

This injury has been nagging Graham for months, forcing him to rely on painkilling injections and protective padding to make it through the 2023 campaign.

Last year, the injury even prevented him from joining the NSW State of Origin camp, hindering his ability to train effectively.

Finally, the 24-year-old has decided to take the necessary steps for proper healing by going under the knife.

Although he is expected to make a comeback for the latter part of the season, his absence will undoubtedly be felt by the team.

Losing such a hardworking centre is a significant setback for coach Jason Demetriou and the Rabbitohs, who are aiming to secure a top-eight spot after last year's devastating collapse that saw them miss out on the finals.
